In my work as a Clinical Psychologist I offer psychological therapy / talking therapy regarding a range of psychological difficulties. For some people seeking out psychological therapy can feel daunting and a little unknown. However in reality what the work involves is thinking with you about the things in your life, either past, present or both, that feel challenging and finding ways to ease some of this distress. I work in a range of different ways and am guided by you with regards to what feels important to you. For some people this involves exploring experiences from the past and for other people the work remains more practical and focused on current challenges. Any decision around the focus of therapy and the number of sessions offered is made with you and we take into account what feels manageable both emotionally and practically at this point in time. I offer face to face sessions at Align but can also offer online therapy sessions when getting to the centre may not be practical.
Through my previous NHS roles I have extensive experience working with a range of mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, childhood trauma, adult trauma / PTSD and relational difficulties. My later NHS roles focused on supporting people managing the psychological impact of physical health conditions including chronic pain, chronic fatigue and cancer diagnoses. I accept referrals regarding a range of physical health conditions where the therapeutic work involves improving psychological health and quality of life alongside difficulties with physical health. At times this work involves exploring the overlap between our physical and mental health, and the ways that past experiences / trauma can interact with this.
More recently I have worked with adults undertaking an ADHD diagnostic assessment and I offer therapeutic input regarding neurodiversity. This might involve making sense of a recent diagnosis or making positive changes around areas of challenge associated with neurodivergent traits, even if a diagnosis is not formally sought.
While I draw on a range of therapy approaches the two areas that influence my work are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). More information about these approaches can be found at the following links:
Currently I offer appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will offer Friday appointments from May 2026.
I accept self-funded referrals and am also approved by BUPA, AXA and a range of other health insurers. If you would like to book an initial assessment, or have a brief telephone to help in this decision, my contact details are below.
